On November 15, SKAT opens the advance tax return. Avoid tax evasion and check if your income and deductions are correct

Only you can change your tax return and predict your income. SKAT will not change anything for you if there are changes that affect your finances.

It is therefore important that you keep an eye on your withholding statement. Changes that may affect your finances have an impact on the taxes and interest you are obliged to pay. If your withholding tax statement is not correct, you may receive a tax deduction.

Important deductions to watch out for

Promotion deduction

Perhaps you still worked more from home in 2022 than usual and are expecting more attendance at work in 2023. Perhaps your working method has simply changed. Whatever the reason, it's important to get a handle on your commuting allowance to avoid a tax hit.

Interest expenses

In 2022, higher interest rates have meant that many people have rescheduled their home loans. If that's the case, your interest costs have probably changed too.

If your finances change throughout the year, remember to correct your withholding tax return

Examples of changes can be, for example:

  • Changes to your salary
  • You have B-income
  • Your marital status, for example if you are divorced
  • Maternity or retirement
  • Mileage deduction
  • Loan rescheduling
  • Buying or selling a home
  • Return on shares
