On March 24, 2025, the Danish Tax Agency will release your annual tax return for 2024

Every year in March, the Danish Tax Agency opens the personal annual statements, where you can see your tax statement for the past year.

For most Danes, the annual tax return is generated automatically, but there are cases where you need to check and report information yourself.

If your tax return isn't correct, it could mean you either have to pay back taxes or miss out on deductions that could give you money back.

When do you have to report information yourself?

You should pay special attention if you:

Self-employed
Self-employed persons must declare income and deductions.

Have foreign income or property abroad
For example, foreign salary, pension or holiday home.

Have moved to or from Denmark
Tax conditions may change when entering or leaving Denmark.

Have rented out a home you do not live in yourself
Income from rental must be reported.

Income and deductions you need to check yourself

Transportation deduction (mileage deduction).
Service deduction - e.g. craftsman deduction.
Gains and losses on shares and other securities.
Gains and losses on cryptocurrency.
Principal shareholders' interest on loans to companies.
Income from sharing economy - e.g. rental of room, home or car.
Child and spousal support.
Board and lodging according to travel rules.
Work clothes, professional literature, courses and other employee deductions.

Review your annual statement in good time

The annual statement is available from March 24, 2025 and it's important to review it to ensure that all information is correct. If you notice any errors or omissions, you can correct them before May 1, 2025 to avoid any interest surcharges on back taxes.
